warrior princess is back!

Hey everyone! I finally got a little more written on Warrior Princess!

Chapter 5

Lendra’s black hair swished as she sat on the floor, watching Neece pack things for their trip. She couldn’t see the reason for half the things they were packing. Cloaks, yes; food, yes; but why was Neece packing those strange bags that were as long as a man was tall? “Are you done yet, Neece?” she asked impatiently.

Neece smiled. “Almost. I just need to gather the maps, and then we will be on our way.”

Lendra sat up straighter. “Where are the maps? I could get them.”

“They’re just over there in the top drawer. Make sure you get all the ones of Southern Adainia and the Crawdon Mountains.” Neece nodded her head toward the chest with the two drawers in it.

Shuffling through all the maps in the drawer, Lendra caught sight of a stack of Southern Adainia maps. She took them out and looked them over to make sure. A large range of mountains depicted on the map caught her eye. “Are these  the Crawdon Mountains?” she asked Neece, showing her. “They’re huge!”

Neece nodded gravely. “Yes, those are the Crawdon Mountains. It is only possible to cross them at certain places. One of them is fairly close to Castle Syntafa. We will attempt to go that way.”

Frowning, Lendra thought about that. “Attempt to go that way? Why just attempt? Why couldn’t we just do it?”

“There are…dangers,” Neece admitted. “Wolves are rumored to live in that pass. But it’s only legend. We should be able to do it just fine.”

Unconvinced, Lendra nodded. “Alright. If you say so.”

Neece gave a small, quiet, laugh. “Lendra, you don’t need to worry. The King will be with us.”

Lendra nodded once again, this time feeling a little better.

Warrior Princess

Hey everyone!
I know it's been forever since I posted. I made a few changes on my story, so I'm reposting Chapter 3, but I'm posting Chapter 4 also. Hope you enjoy!

P.S. Everyone on the blog has great stories!

Chapter 3

Lendra looked toward the city in front of her. She couldn’t believe her eyes, it was so huge! She shook her head in amazement. Growing up in a little mountain village, she had never seen anything like it. Neece stood beside her, smiling at her amazement. Lendra looked at Neece sideways.

                “This is your hometown?”

A smile went over Neece’s face sort of sideways.

“Well, now it is. I stay here when I’m not on a mission.”

                “And the King is here?”

“Oh, yes. The King is wherever you need Him to be.” Neece looked at Lendra. “You didn’t know that?”

Lendra shrugged. “Well, sort of. I feel like I don’t know very much about the King and the Prince.”

Smiling encouragingly, Neece patted Lendra on the back. “Well, you’ll learn. I’ll teach you as we are together.”

Lendra smiled. “Well then, what are we waiting for? Let’s go!”

They started down into the city together.

Soon they were surrounded by people, and Lendra was amazed at how Neece navigated the crowds. Eventually they came to a great building, and Lendra gaped in astonishment.

“This is a huge palace! Does the King live here?” Lendra asked breathlessly.

Neece smiled at Lendra’s exuberance. “Well, the King is here, but we can’t see Him. We will talk to the Prince, who will tell us of our quest.”

Lendra nodded. “So are we going to go in and see what we need to do?”

Neece cocked an eyebrow. “As soon as you’re ready.”

                “I’m ready! Let’s go!”

Chapter 4

Lendra gasped. “This is… incredible! I can’t believe it!” Inside the palace, flying buttresses supported intricately designed walls as they soared up to amazing heights. Stained glass windows lit the interior with beautiful hues of red, green, yellow, blue, orange, and purple. Beautifully embroidered curtains closed off chambers from the main hall.

Neece led Lendra to a curtain on the far side of the hall from the door. A winding staircase led to a smaller hall, where a servant came and bowed front of them.

“You seek audience with the Prince?”

Neece nodded. “I am Princess Bernice. I have found my companion, so now I need a quest.”

The servant bowed again. “I will tell the Prince. You should be able to see Him in a few minutes, please to wait here.” He made a gesture toward the chairs along the sides of the hall. A few people sat here and there, but not many, and Neece and Lendra sat down comfortably.

Soon the servant came back. “You are to see the Prince immediately. Please come with me.”

They followed the butler up another staircase, through a long corridor filled with wall hangings, and up to a simple wooden door. Lendra frowned.

“This is the Prince’s room? It doesn’t seem to be as grand as it should.”

Bernice looked at Lendra reprovingly. “Lendra, the Prince does not aspire to grandeur. He will appear in all of his glory at the end, but for now He shows Himself to us as one of us.”

Lendra nodded, but she didn’t really understand. If she were the ruler of the kingdom, she would want to be in the most regal robes possible, have the fanciest clothes, and own the most beautiful palaces. True, this was a beautiful palace, but the apartment they were being shown into now was very simply decorated—almost plain. As she was considering this, they went into the chamber. A tall man greeted them with a warm smile.

“Ah, Princess Bernice! I see that you have brought your companion Lendra with you. How are you?”

Lendra opened her eyes wide. How had he known her name? Beside her, Bernice bowed, motioning for Lendra to do the same.

“We are very well, your Highness. As you know, I now have a companion, and we wish for you to give us a quest to do for you.”

The man, (who Lendra realized was the Prince) smiled thoughtfully. “Ah, yes. You need a quest.” He rubbed his chin slowly, then smiled. “I have just the thing. I want you to go to the castle of Syntafa and free the prisoners that are held there. You will need to cross the Crawdon Mountains, because Castle Syntafa is in the south of Adainia.”

Bernice nodded, her eyes wide. “You trust us with taking that castle? I am honored, my Lord.”

The Prince nodded. “You will be able to do it with the King’s help.”

Lendra smiled. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go in!”

Warrior Princess Chapter 2

Alright! I think it's my turn, so are you ready for....

Warrior Princess!

Chapter 2

Neece was a guest at Lendra’s house for the next day. Lendra’s parents and siblings enjoyed Neece’s company, and they didn’t suspect that she was a princess. That evening, Neece took Lendra aside.

“Lendra, do you trust the King?” she asked.

Lendra wrinkled her forehead. “What do you mean? He’s the King. I know some people think He doesn’t exist, but I do.”

Neece smiled. “Well, that’s good, but did you know that He made it so everyone could become a prince or princess? The King founded two orders, the Warrior Princesses and the Sons of Honor and Valiance.”

Lendra’s mouth dropped open. “You mean I could become a princess?”

Nodding, and smiling, Neece took Lendra’s hand. “Do you want to?”

“Oh, my, yes!” Lendra nearly shouted. “Who wouldn’t? What do you need to do?”

Neece looked at Lendra seriously. “You need to trust the King and the Prince. They have saved us from the Enemy, and you need to accept that. And then you need to go on a quest to make sure that you really want to be a princess.”

Lendra could hardly make sense of the thoughts madly rushing through her brain. “Alright! I can do that, I think.”

Neece smiled. “Then would you be my companion? I’m probably going on a quest soon, and I need a companion.”

“You want me? To be your companion?”

“Of course I do. When I was pretending to be a simpleton, you were kind to me. You have a kind heart, and are a valiant warrior. I want you to be my companion.”

Lendra couldn’t hide the grin crawling over her face. “Yes! Yes I will be your companion! So what are we going to do?”

Neece looked toward the west. “First…we need to go see the king.”

Warrior Princess

Hello! I have this story I'm writing, so I think I'll post it. Here goes! :^)

The Warrior Princess: Lendra

Chapter 1

Lendra gripped her bow tightly and peered into the darkness. She tentatively took a step, hoping that she wouldn’t walk on a stick and cause a snap. The last thing she needed was for the Enemy’s soldiers to hear her. Suddenly a figure appeared in front of her, startling her. She jumped back.

“Who are you?” She reached for her dagger. The tall young woman, cloaked from head to toe, that had just emerged from the darkness in front of Lendra looked confused.

“What’s wrong? Did I do something?” She smiled. “I’m sure I didn’t mean to.”

Lendra shook her head in wonder. Did this person not know the danger she was in? She held out her hand. “Hello. I was just surprised to see you here. My name is Lendra. What’s yours?”

The woman smiled. “Oh, I’m Neece. Lendra is a very nice name, but why do you have a dagger in your hand?” Her voice was not quiet at all. Lendra closed her eyes, trying to keep the mean words that she was thinking from coming out of her mouth.

“Neece is a nice name too; but please be quiet. We are very close to Enemy soldiers.”

Neece’s eyes opened wide. “Enemy soldiers? I didn’t realize they were close. Why are you around here, if you know that Enemy soldiers are here?”

Lendra sighed. “I am here because I need to get to my parent’s farm. It’s on the other side of the Enemy lines.”

Neece nodded. “Ohhh. I didn’t realize.” Then she whirled around, a completely new expression on her face. “I hear something. Do you think it’s them?”

Lendra listened closely. There was a snapping of twigs, and it sounded like several men were rushing towards them. “It probably is. Here. You stay behind me, and I will try to protect you.” The woman nodded and went behind Lendra.

Now the first soldiers were bursting out of the forest in front of Lendra. She began shooting arrows as fast as she could toward them. Hearing something at her back, she realized that they were surrounded by soldiers, but Neece was fighting them expertly with a sword. Lendra was too hard pressed to be surprised by the fact that what she had taken to be a simple-minded girl was now fighting like a pro. Lendra dropped her bow. The soldiers were too close for her to use it. Now she and Neece stood back to back, fighting against the enemy—Neece with a sword, and Lendra with a sword and dagger. When a soldier would get close, one of the girls would fight him. So far, they had won every hand-to-hand fight. Lendra fought grimly, afraid that finally, all their efforts would have been in vain, and they would be captured or killed. But as they kept defeating all the enemies that came against them, the soldiers began to slow down. Finally, Lendra and Neece were able to run, leaving the tired soldiers behind.

When they reached a comparatively safe place, Lendra looked at Neece gratefully. “Thank--” she gasped as she looked at Neece. Neece’s hood had fallen off her head as she fought, and Lendra could see that her long hair was the peculiar light reddish-brown color with golden highlights of the Warrior Princesses of Adainia. “You aren’t who you were pretending to be!” Lendra stammered. “You-you’re a princess!”

Neece smiled. “I am. My name is really Bernice Alana Kilidora Anmar, princess of the realm of Adainia. But I really am just called Neece.” She looked at Lendra and grinned. “Please, don’t worry about that. May I accompany you to your parent’s farm?”

Lendra nodded dumbly. She still couldn’t believe that she had thought Neece was just a simpleton! But Neece had acted her part well. Anyone would have been taken in.

Neece stayed silent as she followed Lendra, but when she saw a light in the distance, she motioned Lendra aside.

“Please don’t tell them I’m a princess. Just say I am a friend you brought home for supper.” She smiled. “By the way, you seemed pretty accustomed to fighting. Do you go through the Enemy lines much?”

Lendra nodded. “I do. I have to sell my parent’s vegetables, and the nearest town is through the lines. I’m pretty good at getting through unnoticed now, but not when I meet a person who has no caution, of course. Then I have to fight.” She kept a straight face with difficulty as she watched Neece’s eyes twinkle.

“Oh, you wouldn’t say that if you knew me. We princesses have a bad habit of chopping heads off of people who mock us.” This time both of them laughed aloud.
